Project Description
Enfinite is planning to construct a 100 MW Battery Energy Storage Facility (BESF) and substation approximately 17 km northeast of Medicine Hat, Alberta. The facility will be located on a 10-acre portion of 160 acres of land and will be connected to the Alberta Interconnected Electric System through the AltaLink 244S Bowmanton substation through a new 240 kV transmission line.

Major Equipment:
The battery storage facility and substation expect to have the following major equipment (all subject to change throughout project design):
- 105 – battery modules with inverters
- 27 – Medium Voltage (MV) transformers
- Effective grounding equipment for the bus.
- Fused disconnects to protect the downstream transformer.
- 1 – 240 kV – Medium Voltage(MV) power transformer.
- 1 – Medium Voltage (MV) bus along with circuit breakers, disconnects and station service transformer.
- 240 kV bus hardware including circuit breaker and disconnects.
- 240 kV and Medium Voltage(MV) potential transformers.
- Oil containment for the power transformer.
- A new control building to house protection and control systems for the new equipment in the substation as well as the BESS site.
- 2 – 40 -foot storage containers and one prefabricated office trailer
